Reviews

Perfectly comfortable

I would return. We were there for 8 nights in a suite on the second floor (elevator 1). Though it's not fancy, it's quite acceptable, clean, comfortable and well-maintained. The staff was friendly and personable. The restaurant served a great breakfast, English and continental. Great location a block from the British Museum, close to Russell Square Park, and the Tube.

Friendly helpful staff but perhaps avoid this hotel.

Stayed in several of the Grange hotels and would again but first (and last) time here. Family of four so needed a room with two doubles. Having read a few reviews re the noisy basement, we specifically requested a room on the upper floors when booking. As others have observed, any request made at the time of booking on the Grange website appears only to be noted when checking in at which point is probably too late. I would say this is the case of all Grange hotels. We were given a room on the ground floor, clean and spacious looking out to the rear. Immediately noticed a loud humming noise from the ceiling mounted air con which was off and even louder rattle from some equipment outside the window. (the Grange Bloomsbury and Fitzrovia hotels have sash windows and are single glazed)

Reception were initially reluctant to move us but after some 'discussion' upgraded us (for free) to a front-facing suite, added two small beds and moved our bags whilst we were out exploring London. On our return we discover there's virtually no hot water and very little pressure from tap or shower - several guests were grumbling about it at breakfast and the desk staff confirmed there was a problem.

Breakfast was ok and top marks to the staff but unlikely to return.
