Overview

The Harbour View Inn on the ever-so-quaint and family-friendly Mackinac Island includes amenities such as complimentary wireless internet access to keep the family connected and in-the-know throughout their stay, and a yummy and complimentary continental breakfast buffet. The complimentary breakfast buffet is served daily from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., and includes oatmeal, cereal, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, toast, juice, milk, coffee, and hot tea. Rooms are non-smoking, and feature irons and ironing boards to keep your clothes looking their best, cable television, hair dryers, air conditioning to stay cool on those hot and inevitably steamy summer nights, and nightly turndown service (upon request). Suites feature sleeper sofas, as well. Nearby attractions and things to do include Fort Mackinac, Butterfly Houses, and Carriage Tours. Families can also rent bikes right from the hotel. Check-in time is 3 p.m. and check-out time is 11 a.m.

A Bit Disappointing Overall

We walked for about 8-10 minutes to the hotel. The reception staff was pleasant. Our room was quite average and appeared dated. The gardens were pretty. The breakfast was fair at best...mostly starches with only one hot entree that wasn't refilled often enough. It was too cold and wet to use the patio, so the dining room was crowded and we offered to share our table so a couple would have a place to sit. They fouled up returning our luggage to the dock as promised, and we almost missed the ferry.

We enjoyed our stay at the Harbour View Inn this past September. Each employee we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was nice. Nothing special. We were glad the Inn was a short walk to town away from the bustle of the restaurants and shops. That being said there was a wedding nearby that some of the other guests of the Inn were attending. They came in late after the wedding and continued the celebration downstairs. Our room was right at the top of the stairs and you would have thought they were right outside our door. Other than that we had a great stay. We took advantage of renting bikes from the Inn which was cheaper than the other places we saw that were renting them.
