Reservation canceled on me!!!

by Collette L

I reserved this hotel more than 1 month before I needed it. I don't check e-mails everyday (as I'm sure most people don't either) . I received a e-mail from this hotel 1 week before my stay, with an invoice to pay for room, And then a second e-mail 24 hours later, cancelling my room.( which I did not see both until 2 days later). I immediately called them to see if I still had a room, and they said no and that they gave it to someone else, and that they were now full. So be warned, unless you sit by your computer and check email often, you will lose your reservation. Their customer service person did not care and just blew me off. I asked why they did not call me and he said that was up to me. First off, I did not know my reservation was getting cancelled, why would I think I need to call them. This is not a good way to do business. I will never stay here and recommend others to do the same.

We got just what we paid for....

This is definitely a bare bones motel. The owner and his wife are charming people but that is where the charm ends. The motel is an old building with 16 or 18 rooms. We had room #2. When we first walked in there was a strange perfumy odor, like it was covering up something. Old style room with cupboards and counters like it was once an efficiency apartment. The bathroom was very small with patched plaster all around the sink and the the shower is like a tiny, tiny closet. The shampoo is in a packet like you get your ketchup in and you should try opening one of those with soapy, wet hands. There was bar soap, but no lotion, and no Kleenex at all. We had asked for a queen bed but none available so we got a room with 2 double beds. The beds were pulled away from the wall, I think so there would not be noise from the headboards hitting the wall, if you know what I mean. The wall is painted a dark depressing color and the windows were dirty. We grabbed a face towel off the rack and it had stains on it. After inspecting the room thoroughly, we decided to stay anyway and make do, since the carpet seemed fairly clean and the beds and linens were fairly clean, even though one pillow case had an old blood stain in it. We also found a crumpled dirty paper napkin on the floor next to the bed that we assumed the cleaning person missed. It was only $60 and we got what we paid for, but I guess we have higher standards for a motel room.
