The Hilton Inn at Penn isn’t just located near the University of Penn in Philadephia; it’s also just 20 minutes from Philadelphia International Airport, and within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. (We highly recommend a visit to Distrito for Mexican tapas!) You can also dine at the hotel’s restaurant, Penne Restaurant and Wine Bar, which serves delicious Italian cuisine in a cozy atmosphere. Highchairs and kids’ portions are available for little ones.
Other perks at this University City hotel include complimentary Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast, and guestrooms and suites with iPads, DVD players, and mini-fridges. Cribs are available upon request.

We stayed here for my son's monthly visit to the Children's Hospital Of Philadelphia (CHOP). We typically stay over in center city, but all those Hilton brand hotels were booked and we were able to get a guaranteed room at The Inn at Penn through my Hilton membership.
The location of this hotel ended up being perfect for us! We took the Amtrak train up from DC and it was a very short Uber ride to the hotel from the train station. There was a lot to walk around and explore with our two young kids. We loved exploring the University area, trying new restaurants, and we even walked to CHOP in the morning for our appointment!
The only downside was that there were a couple of elevators out of commission and we had a stroller, toddler, and suitcases. Only once did it fully inconvenience us and we lifted and walked our stroller up the stairs from the street level to the lobby level. the rest of the time at least one elevator from street level was working (but not the one from the on-site restaurant up to the lobby- that was down the whole stay).
This hotel books up quickly and pretty far in advance! I was thankful they were able to squeeze us in for 2 nights and I hope we get a chance to stay here again!

The Inn at Penn looks recently updated and manages to capture both a modern feel with an historic and academic sensibility, go figure. I enjoyed the ambience and decor at the hotel and loved the university neighborhood. Great restaurants within walking distance and the university across the street. The lobby staff were helpful albeit not super friendly. The morning breakfast service had a bunch of sweet staff people but the restaurant felt disorganized and service was hit or miss. The room was clean and comfortable but had a very pungent smell as if there had been a smoker in the room just prior to my stay. If your agenda includes Penn, I think this would be a perfect place to stay.
