Want an authentic Old West experience? Book a stay at the Historic Occidental Hotel & Saloon in Buffalo, Wyoming. Famous guests of the hotel have included Buffalo Bill, Butch Cassidy and the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang, and even Theodore Roosevelt, long before he became president.
Guestrooms, while updated, look as though they might have when the hotel opened more than 135 years ago. Each room is different in décor, too. While most rooms feature one bed only, the Stewart Clear Creek Cabin is a nice option for families. Wi-Fi is free.
While at the hotel, be sure to dine at The Virginian Restaurant. The kids will also love the old-fashioned soda fountain (and other treats) at the Busy Bee Café onsite.

This is not your typical hotel today, but takes you back to another era. We are so glad we were able to stay here! However, if you want everything up to date--modernized--this is not the place for you; It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. As an added plus, we were there the night there was live entertainment in the saloon that is a part of the hotel, adding to the 1880s.atmosphere.
Oh my goodness, this is the place you want to stay so stop looking at other places! My esteemed spouse and I recently spent one night there and wish we could have stayed longer. First, this hotel has been beautifully restored, is filled with great antiques and has so much history. The pictures of the people who have stayed here..the"museum" upstairs...its location in town on a small creek make it charming. But of course, you want a good night's sleep! We stayed in the Hemingway room..quiet, overlooking the creek, comfortable. You know, you could stay at a chain hotel in almost any city or town in America. But why would you do that in Buffalo, Wyoming? This charming hotel is waiting for you!!
