So-So

by chicagoretired

Recently stayed 3 nights at the Ho Chunk. Overall the rooms were not what I expected for the price they charge. First off we request a room close to the elevator weeks before we arrived as my wife has problems walking long distances. Repeated the request at check in. The room we received was at the farthest possible location from the elevator.
The room was very dark, could hardly read in the bed. Bathroom was also very dark, especially the shower. It was so dark in the shower you could see your legs! Also the shower head was not adjustable and there was only luke warm water. There was also no rack to hang a towel by the sink, you had to keep the towel right on the sink.
For the price you pay I would expect better.
The casino was nice, clean but smokey. However they do have a very nice non-smoking section. They have a gift shop located on the casino level, but it is the smallest gift shop I have ever seen in a casino/hotel.

Great find-loved this place,

My husband and I were driving on our way to Minnesota from Ohio and needed a place to stay. We were pleasantly surprised how reasonable the hotel was and affordable the restaurants were. The casino had so many varieties of gaming and minimum bets that you could play, like $2 Black Jack and 90 cents Quick Hits. In addition, there was a real non smoking area( slots only in there). We like it so much we stopped on our way back and planning our trip in the summer.
