Beautiful hotel with amazing service!

by monkeyrgirl

I was able to stayed recently at this hotel and I am very happy I did not knowing how wonderful it would be.
From the moment I walked in I was welcome and treated wonderful by everyone at the hotel (the two gentleman who carried our bags to our room were my favorite, but sadly I did not see their name), but everyone was really niece.
The location is perfect if one want to feel like in the colonial times and breath history walking the lovely colonial streets around the hotel.
Inside also the hotel is very charming and authentic. Is been one of my favorites in Santo Domingo.
Highly recommended!
Thank you,
Mary Bustillos

Worst Experience Ever

I was looking forward to staying here, only to be extremely disappointed. People talked about it as 5 star hotel. NOPE! Not even close. We were put in Room 2024 which had mold in the bathroom (gross!), only 1 trash can which is in the bathroom, no trash can in the bedroom area so I had to ask for one. The water from shower spills onto the bathroom floors. No luggage rack in the room.

We were moved to Room 3014. There we had robes, which is a little better room. The shower pressure was so low, and water still spills onto the bathroom floor. I wonder why there were no robes in Room 2024? Who does quality check in this hotel? Coffee machine but only 1 coffee cup. Are we supposed to share 1 coffee cup amongst us?

Very cheap bathroom amenities. The size was super small not even enough for 2 guests. I asked for extra shampoo & conditioner (if it’s really shampoo & conditioner?), the housekeeper brought tubes of shampoo & conditioner. It was still wet. I opened the tube, it was used. I think this hotel gathers leftover amenities and re-uses it in other rooms. Not hygiene at all for guests! Guests beware, they cut corners with amenities. But they will take your money!

As we were leaving my daughter had to use the restroom in the lobby. Someone made number 2 in there, and the toilet didn’t flush. Gross experience.

I asked for “turndown service” at night. The front desk didn’t know what it was, even though it’s written on their website.

The breakfast staff were very nice. Luis at front desk was nice, he changed us to a better room.

I’ll never come back. And I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone.

Either management is very incompetent or the hotel owner is just very CHEAP, bath amenities are cheap and generic. Yuck.
