Overview

One of the most unique B&Bs in Homer, Hoedel’s has the charm of old Alaska and the modern comforts of home. The choices is yours, basically. You can stay in the newer Hoedel House, a cute little cottage with enough king, queen and rollaway beds to sleep a family of six. Or, you can opt for the Homestead Cabin, a historic log structure built in the 1940s that can sleep four guests on a queen bed and sleeper sofa. The secret is, you get the same great amenities in both. Each has a kitchen that includes a refrigerator, oven, stovetop, microwave and coffeemaker. Each has a TV and DVD player. Each is clean and well-maintained. Big or small, your family will be happy with either choice. From anywhere on the property, you’re treated to stunning views of Kachemak Bay and the mountains beyond. Your hosts provide free coffee, tea and snacks, as well as a hearty home-cooked breakfast each morning.

Hoedel’s is in a quiet forested neighborhood less than 2 miles from the center of town. It’s a short trip down the hill to find the fine restaurants and art galleries that Homer is known for. There are several large grocery stores along the way for when you want to cook in your cabin. Kids will get a kick out of the Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center, where they can earn their Junior Biologist badge by exploring the exhibits and nature trails. It’s a short walk down to Bishop’s Beach and its tidepools. Another fun point of interest is the Pratt Museum, which highlights the natural history of the Homer area. Your B&B hosts are happy to arrange or recommend excursions for your family, from whale watching to bear viewing. One popular trip is a cruise from the Homer harbor across the bay to the Grewingk Glacier Trail, an easy hike that is sure to bring you within sight of wildlife. With its choice of charming cottage or historic homestead, Hoedel’s B&B is one of the more unique places to spend your family vacation in Alaska.

You won't be disappointed!

by Isabelle N

We stayed 2 nights in Nancy's cabin. This cabin is situated in a lovely garden in a very nice neighourhood and has splendid views on the Homer spit. Nancy is a warm person and gives you a lot of information on things to do and see. The cabin is large, well maintained, very clean and really well-decorated, we were amazed how beautiful and cozy the cabin was. We loved our stay and Nancy's hospitality!

Thank you Nancy

Just warnt to say thank you to Nancy for this wonderful stay. We received an upgrade to the flat in the main building, with an incredible view. Prepared own food in the kitchen, talked a lot with Nancy, defenitely will stay there again, when in Homer. Cheers Tom and Georg
