Overview

Kids will love playing the fountains and wading pool of the Holiday Inn’s heated indoor pool. It’s just one of the many family-friendly amenities of this newer hotel on the west side of Amarillo. Their two-queen rooms also have enough space for a crib or rollaway, making it ideal for a family of 4 or 5. Every room contains a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker, as well as a big-screen TV and DVD player. Other amenities of the hotel include a well-equipped fitness center, free wi-fi, and laundry facilities. Parents will be tempted to eat every dinner at Flame Grill, the hotel’s onsite restaurant where kids under 12 eat free.

The Holiday Inn is located in the quiet west side of Amarillo. Kids will be thrilled to see that the hotel shares a parking lot with a giant 14-screen movie theater, so plan on seeing a movie or two during your stay. There are numerous casual and fast food restaurants within easy walking distance. Drive 3 miles west of your hotel to view the iconic Cadillac Ranch public artwork. Bring paint, as it’s one of the rare pieces of art which visitors are encouraged to deface. The Holiday Inn is also close to most of Amarillo’s family-friendly attractions, such as the Don Harrington Discovery Center, Texas Air and Space Museum, and the American Quarter Horse Heritage Center. A mere 30 miles away is the stunning scenery of Palo Duro Canyon, the second largest canyon in the country after that “grand” one. With its kid-friendly amenities and easy access to the sights and sounds of Amarillo, the Holiday Inn West Medical Center is a great choice for your family vacation in Amarillo.

Hidden Fees & Bad Attitude, Never Again

by Siximpossiblethings1

This Holiday Inn in particular is unpleasant and sketchy. They'll charge you a $10 "parking fee" but won't tell you about it until you already have a non-refundable reservation Either be upfront with this fee or up your rates by $10, but don't be all sketchy trying to sneak it in. I don't like to feel like I've been tricked into a fee. I would have been fine paying it had I known before I made the reservation that it existed. Luckily, there are other decent hotels that border this Holiday Inn and are happy to let you park on their property, for free. Next time I'll also book with those other hotels. Front desk staff were rude and flippant. And the bar in the lobby is extremely loud and it carries. They charge you $20 more when you check in for "incidentals." When I asked what kind of incidentals, I was told "in case you steal something from the room." Seriously? Wow...the previous night we stayed at a significantly more expensive and high end hotel. We were not treated like thieves and their hotel actually had crap worth stealing. Never again. I'm done with Holiday Inn. And for those of you who enjoy a free breakfast in the morning? Not at this location. They'll charge you almost $12, but it's still the usual crap you'd get for free normally at any other hotel except this one.

Delightful

We started off with such nice friendly service! Brittany was our guest services person and we enjoyed visiting as we checked in. She was Uber helpful and offered directions to our dinner destination as well as helping us get our rooms.

The rooms were great! Clean, comfortable, and up to date.

Would definitely go back.
