The check in was friendly, easy and quick and the parking is free. The location of the property is also good. The room was not as large as some of the newer Holiday Inn Express properties but it was fine. Overall the room was comfortable but the bed was too firm for my husband. The room was clean except for a ring of dirt around the toilet at the floor. It was not all the way around the toilet but enough that it was very noticeable. My husband took a picture of it and showed it to the front desk clerk in the morning so the property could have it corrected. The young lady at the desk told my husband that it could not be dirt and was caulk. After some back and forth my husband let it drop. His thought was "it's not my concern if you don't want to fix it or at least make a note of it for maintenance".

I want to praise and honor Gwen who is the breakfast attendant at the Hays Kansas Holiday Inn , 4650 Roth Ave.
I’m a traveling musician and I have stayed at hundreds of hotels and I have to tell you she’s literally the most professional and attentive breakfast coordinator I’ve encountered.

Everything tasted fantastic especially the oatmeal which nobody gets right . But she did ! yum! Fresh raisins fresh brown sugar and real walnuts and it was steaming hot .
The rest of the stuff - the eggs this message as good as it could be . Killer.
She did this job single-handedly for the whole breakfast and was constantly re-supplying all the trays and the coffee never ran out . She was in constant motion… With a smile on her face.
It gradually occurred to me that she actually takes pride and actually enjoys the job and I asked her about it and she confirmed that .

You could search the world over and not find employee who has that kind of work ethic. A needle in the haystack.

It was really quiet in there the music wasn’t too loud and you could tell everybody was enjoying their food .

Our band drives between 4 to 12 hours between gigs and it’s stuff like this that rejuvenator so makes us ready for the next day .
