We had stayed here @ 20 years ago and enjoyed our stay now as we did then. The resort is on the ocean but set back quite a way as are all of the hotels. We had booked an ocean view room but to say it was an ocean view room was really stretching it. We were on the first floor with the pool and bar right in front of our room. There were thick wooden blinds that opened and closed on the inside of our small window and yes, you could see the ocean if you stood in our open doorway or looked through the large slats of our open wooden blinds. i would have classified our room as pool side. The bathroom is very small with a toilet and bathtub/shower only with room for one person at a time. Outside is a double sink with a large lighted mirror. One morning the maid had not left any caffeinated coffee but when my husband went out to try to find some on a cart he was able to get some. The workers at the desk were very friendly and helpful. We felt safe here and would see a security guard patrolling the place. The resort takes beach lounges to the beach every morning for the guests which is included in the resort fee. If you want an umbrella, take your own which we did and it was no problem. The resort also provides pool and beach towels for the guests. When you check in, everyone is given a rubber wrist band and you must turn all of them in at checkout or there is a $30 charge per wrist band. Do not walk the beach in the evening because the "no seeum's" will eat you alive even with bug spray. We found out the island does spray with a helicopter but only the minimum to prevent disease. There was also foul smelling seaweed on the beach in the evening, but a shop keeper told us that the island hires people to keep this all picked up we assume in the early morning hours, because the next day it was gone. The beach water is a dirty brown where there was no one swimming in it or even wading in it. The lower part of the beach is covered with small crushed shells but the upper part is nice sand. Our neighbors found a lot of sand dollars and we found a nice double shell. There are 4 large hammocks hanging from trees for the guests and a ping pong table. There is a strong brisk breeze to keep flies away during the day. We layed in our lounges and let the wind and waves rock us to sleep along with the sound of the sea birds.

Issue in the room; asked for maintenance. Front desk person kept giving different excuses why no one was coming after an hour. Would not give me his real name. Would not call or page the manager. Said the manager was sleeping (it was not even 8 pm). Terrible service. Oh, and the prior guest’s toiletries were on the floor by the toilet. They forgot to clean that up.
