Overview

If you like Kimpton Hotels and want to stay as close to Washington D.C.’s National Mall as possible, Hotel George is a slam-dunk. If you’ve never been to a Kimpton Hotel, you’re in for a real treat and a prime location in the nation’s capitol.

The hotel provides complimentary wine hours, kids programming and a pet-friendly policy — all at no additional charge. Plus, Hotel George offers some extra perks, like a toy chest full of new toys (still wrapped) for kids to enjoy during wine hours, as well as in-room treats like gummy bears.

Hotel George appears chic and somewhat fancy, and upon arrival, it might remind you of something you’d see in Europe. When you get to your room and find red, white and blue throughout, you’ll be reminded of where you are.

Room Information

Find the Best Price for Your Stay

Accommodations are furnished in hues of red, white and blue -- a fun, patriotic touch in the nation's capitol -- and signature amenities include bathrobes (adult and child sizes), yoga kits, 48-inch TVs and bath amenities by Gilchrest and Soames. Beds are outfitted in 300-thread count Egyptian cotton Frette linens, which are ever so pleasant after a busy day. Oftentimes, hotel staff will also leave gummy bears and other treats for kids in the rooms.

Cribs are complimentary upon request, and rollaway beds are available for an additional fee per night. Both are allowed in some rooms, though restrictions apply in others (due to potential fire hazards). Connecting rooms are also available; request in plenty of advance.

Deluxe King Room with Sofa Bed
As the name suggests, this variation offers one king bed and a sofa bed, sleeping four to five guests (with the use of a rollaway bed or crib).

Queen Queen Deluxe Room
This room sleeps up to four people, and is a traditional offering for families. It also has a large desk, which can double as an eating space.

Deluxe Queen Queen with Sofa Bed
This room is especially ideal for families, sleeping up to six people in two queen beds and a sofa bed.

Presidential Suite With King Bed
The Presidential Suite is the largest room, with 535 square feet of space. It has a separate bedroom with a king bed, privatized by a sliding door, and a sofa bed in a living area; it accommodates up to five guests with the use of a rollaway bed or crib.

Additionally, the hotel offers Queen Deluxe and Executive Queen Rooms, each with one queen bed, as well as the King Deluxe with a king bed.

Stay away

by msgrinblatt

Buyer beware is all I can say. Ridiculous story. I was booked at Kimpton Topaz and found out that they closed the day of my reservation. Talked to Kimpton and IHG and all I got was double talk and lies.
What is going on here ?

Excellent service

Nice boutique hotel with outstanding service. Staff are friendly and courteous. Loved the funky bathrobes! The decor is cool and hotel is in a great location near Union Station and Capitol Hill. Highly recommend!

Wine Hours
Hotel George hosts complimentary wine hours daily, from 5 to 6 p.m., with light bites also available. Offered at all Kimpton Hotels, this is one of the best we've seen yet for families. The staff puts out a toy chest with new (still packaged) toys for kids to play with and take home.

Family Dining

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Hotel Fee
The George charges a nightly hotel fee of $15, which covers Wi-Fi, local and long distance calls, coffee and tea in the lobby each morning and car service within 1 mile of the hotel.

Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is complimentary if you sign up for Kimpton Karma, a free rewards program. As a member, you also receive a $10 credit to use on in-room mini bars, and are eligible to earn free nights and onsite dining incentives.

Pets
All furry friends are welcome at Hotel George (and all Kimpton Hotels), free of charge. Bowls, beds, leashes and other treats are provided and also complimentary.

Forgot It? We've Got It!
If you forgot a toothbrush, razor or any other essentials, contact the front desk -- the hotel provides a host of items to make your stay comfortable.

Fitness Center
The hotel has a fitness center, open 24 hours. It has free weights, a few treadmills, an elliptical machine, a bike and stair master. Lockers and steam rooms are also available.

Business Center
The hotel's business center is also open 24 hours and is accessible with a room key.

Check-In/Check-Out
Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out is at noon.

The Art of Smart Timing
Like all hotels in Washington D.C., the highest occupancy time is summer. Spring is almost as popular, especially during the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Consider a fall or winter visit to get a deal and beat the crowds.

Getting There
Fly into Washington Dulles International Airport or Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, or take Amtrak to Union Station, just a few minutes from the hotel.

Getting Around
The only parking available is valet, and it costs $45, plus tax, per night. If you have a hybrid vehicle, you'll pay $35 per night instead. The nightly fee covers in-and-out privileges, but leave your car at the hotel and get out and walk. The National Mall is just a short walk from the hotel.

For Mom and Dad
Head to Bistro Bis for dinner, or elect to enjoy in-room spa services if someone is able to watch the kids for an hour or two. If interested in leaving the hotel all together, check out Rasika (Indian) or Johnny's Half Shell (seafood).
