Friendly staff, but cold rooms!

by bluberry c

The hotel is about 30mins fast walk from the main centre but 10 minutes from the bus station. Don't know if the area may not be as safe as quite often the main glass door was locked, and the staff would come and unlock it whenever we approaches/ rang the door bell. We stayed here on two separate nights with a trek in between.

We met two reception staff who were fairly helpful in their different ways, as although one of them maybe interpreted as being relaxed! The older one didn't seem to speak much English compared to the younger one, but seemed to understand our requests.

On both occasions the room was cold but would warm up in the evening if the sky was clear. There was a good supply of hot water for showering and a powerful shower although during the morning of the second stay the water ran out completely, perhaps we had overr-used the hot water... We only had breakfast during the second stay as we left too early the first time. It was just bread rolls, butter and jam, hot tea/coffee and a lovely freshly squeezed pineapple juice. No fruit salad as shown on a leaflet! During the first stay we had told them we needed to leave at 5am and were advised to knock on their door to wake him up, we had no issues the next morning. We could also leave a bag with them during the trek.

Comfortable

This is a basic hotel, with basic features and a reasonable price. The rooms were clean, the water was hot and the hotel staff was friendly. It is not fancy by any stretch but a serviceable place to crash after a long hike.

Two tips: First, there are about 15 hotels with Inca in the title (Inca Inn, Inca Place, Inca's Hotel, Plaza Inca) etc etc. Make sure you have a good map to show your taxi before you go.

Second, there are a couple of decent chicken restaurants about a ~6 minute walk away. Ask the staff and they can point you in the right direction.
