Overview

The history, architecture and spacious rooms will grab your attention when you arrive at the Hyatt at The Bellevue. Located in Philadelphia’s theater district (also known as the Avenue of the Arts) and a few blocks from the historic area, the Hyatt’s central location is perfect for exploring all that the City of Brotherly Love has to offer.

In 1904, the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel opened its doors and today many of the opulent 20th century details (including light fixtures designed by Thomas Edison) can still be found, along with all the modern amenities that one could want. The first thing your family may notice is the wider than usual hotel hallways. These were originally constructed to insure that two ladies wearing large hoop skirts could easily pass each other in the hallway.

Renovated at the end of 2015, the hallways and guestrooms have seen a significant upgrade. Gone is the outdated green Victorian style wallpaper and in are the plush blue and gray toned carpet and wall colorings. The renovation (which will be completed by spring 2016) noticeably launched Hyatt at The Bellevue into the 21st century. It has kept its historic charm without staying in the past.

Room Information

Find the Best Price for Your Stay

The 172 rooms are situated on the top five floors of the Bellevue building. Each room is unique, as cookie-cutter hotel rooms were not the norm in the 20th century. Each room offers a mini-fridge, complimentary water bottles and a coffeemaker featuring Starbucks coffee. Cribs are available at no additional charge and rollaway beds are available for a nightly fee.

Guestrooms
The high ceilings and large windows will be the first thing you notice when entering the spacious guestrooms. A king, queen or double bed configuration is available and most of the guestrooms feature a bathtub. The closets (also once used to house those large hoop skirts) are oversized and considered a walk-in closet in most of the guestrooms. Free Wi-Fi can also be found in the guestrooms. A doorknocker is featured on every guestroom door, which is another finer detail that highlights the 1900's history.

Suites
Avenue Suites
The large suites look more like an apartment than a hotel room. A coat closet and wet bar can be found in an entrance hallway and French doors separate the bedroom and living room. A sleeper sofa can be found in the living area and a television can be found in both the living room and bedroom areas. A bathtub is also featured in the bathroom, but no connecting rooms are offered in these suites.

Bellevue Suites
Similar to the Avenue Suites, the Bellevue Suites do not feature a sleeper sofa but do offer the option of connecting rooms.

Junior Avenue Suites
The Junior Avenue Suite is the smallest suite option and it does not offer a separate living area.

Anniversary

A glamorous hotel in the heart of Center City, however, 45.00 for valet was too much, and the second elevator was not operating. The room was spacious and very inviting. Check in and check out were easy.

Great stay, as always

Playing a show at the Kimmel Center, easy walking distance. Staff always friendly and helpful. Great access to City Center activities. Location couldn’t be better. Wonderful property. Looking forward to our next stay here...

Family Activities

The Hyatt does not offer specific children's programs at the hotel because the staff encourages guests to venture outside of the hotel and see all that Philadelphia has to offer. If your family would like to catch a show, be sure to check the schedules of several of the musical theaters all within walking distance to the hotel.

The Sporting Club
Guests have full complimentary access to the Sporting Club, which is connected to the hotel. Children are welcome with adult supervision.

Pool
The 25-meter indoor swimming pool at the Sporting Club is great for splashing around and burning off energy. The pool is located on the first floor and accessible through the locker rooms. Classes and lessons do take place at the pool, but children's swim hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday and 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday. Children must be accompanied by an adult at the pool.

Family Dining

XIX
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the XIX café and restaurant/bar, all of which can be found on the 19th floor of the hotel. A kids' menu is available for each meal with things like pancakes, salad, chicken tenders, burgers or steak. The kids' menu is also an activities booklet, which will keep little ones occupied at the table. Outdoor terrace seating (which features superb city sunset views) is also available at both locations.

Café
The Café, featuring casual elegance under a high domed ceiling, serves breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Guests will find a continental café table filled with fruits and pastries along with pancakes, wraps, eggs and omelets. A prix-fixe lunch menu is available with a choice of salad, entrée and dessert. Sunday brunch is also available.

Restaurant and Bar
In a more elegant setting with giant pearls hanging from the ceiling, the Restaurant focuses on seafood, including a raw bar. The old-world feel of the Bar area (situated between the restaurant and café) with its rich wood and leather textures is still cozy with a fireplace and large original windows overlooking the city.

In-Room Dining
Room service is available to guests from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Shopping
Several shops live William Sonoma, Nicole Miller and Tiffany & Co. can be found on the lower levels of the Bellevue.

The Sporting Club is nowhere near your average hotel gym. It's a full service gym with plenty of extra amenities. Hundreds of cardio and weight machines are available, but if running on a treadmill isn't your speed, there is an indoor track that wraps around the entire facility. The track also overlooks a regulation size basketball court and racquetball and squash courts. Spinning, yoga, Pilates and boxing can also be found here. Locker rooms with a sauna, a healthy food café and a pro shop are also features of the Sporting Club.

The Art of Smart Timing
Summer is a popular time to stay at Hyatt at The Bellevue when the kids are out of school. But Philadelphia is an easy destination to visit any time of year with its historic sites, parks and outdoor ice-skating rink in the winter.

Getting Around
Guests can easily walk to numerous restaurants, theaters, stores and historic attractions or ask the front desk to hail you a taxi or car service. An airport shuttle is not provided by the hotel. If driving, a parking garage is attached to the Bellevue with a nightly fee for both self and valet parking. But in and out privileges are available to guests at no charge.

For Mom and Dad
Salon and Spa
If mom or dad is looking for a day of pampering, the Bellevue Salon and Spa is the spot. Located in the lowest level of the Bellevue, guests can enjoy a facial, massage, hair styling, and a manicure or makeup application. Appointments are appreciated, but walk-ins are welcome.
