Close to Conference Center, Clean, Reasonably Priced.

by LN423

This hotel is about a 10-minute easy walk from the conference center and is much more reasonably priced than the hotels right across the street from the conference center. Breakfast is included and is good. Lobby area has lots of seating. Rooms are clean and nice.

I generally love Hyatt properties, which is why I chose this one. I was in SLC for a conference at the main center. My first night, I checked in using the mobile confirmation. I think this was a mistake. I got to the room around 4:30 PM and got my keys. My room turned out to be directly across from the elevator, and i could hear the bells from inside the room. I immediately called down to ask for a change and was told that it wasn't possible because the hotel was full. But, surely not everyone was checked in? Still- no. That was policy, I'd have to call back the next day. I understand that not every request can be accommodated, but the attitude from the woman I spoke with at the front desk was basically: 'you're stupid for even asking'.
The rooms are very nice- no issues there. However, despite leaving money for the housekeeping staff, nothing was really tidy upon return. I just realized the coffee carafe and top are missing, and that the toiletries were not replenished. The contacts at the front desk were completely dismissive when I called for assistance.
Is it really too much to expect the front desk to be....helpful??
The location and room itself was good, but honestly, the front desk staffing is enough to consider alternatives if possible.
