Amazing hotel with sensational staff - one of Iberostar's Best!
For the second time this year, and our fourth time to date, in October we thoroughly enjoyed a super holiday at Iberostar's Isla Canela Hotel. How lucky we are!
The grand and spacious hotel building is only surpassed by the hard-working and remarkable staff who work tirelessly to ensure your enjoyment and holiday satisfaction. For us, it truly is a fabulous place.
As has become usual, we flew with Jet2 from Glasgow to Faro, completely stress-free and without any hitches. Well done Jet2. With the low numbers of Brits who presently choose to holiday in this region, a private car, or mini-bus, is the norm to transfer you effortlessly to Isla Canela. It's a 46 mile journey and can take just over an hour.
We arrived at reception and, to our delight, what seemed like waves of hotel staff came over to greet, hug and re-acquaint. (As we have become known to the staff, this has become normal.) It is really nice to be remembered. Other guests must have thought that we were film stars!
You will be able to read our previous 3 reviews of this amazing hotel. The staff are genuinely nice and so incredibly friendly. We would love to name all of the stars, however for fear of missing out a name, or two, we will refrain.
The ambience is super and the location, beside a huge unspoilt and quiet beach, is incredible.
The lady who kindly cleaned our room on the third floor of the western side of the hotel overlooking the sea, created a different towel sculpture for us every day. We have included pictures of only some of these artworks. What a genuinely nice lady she is!
The head chef is a huge asset to the hotel and both he and his team ensure that there is a huge variety of scrumptious food for their guests. There is food for all tastes.
The General Manager and the rest of her personable management team are always to be seen around the hotel engaging with guests and making sure that everything is just as you would like it.
We met several guests who, like us, have enjoyed holidays at this hotel before. Some were staying for just 3 weeks; others for 6 weeks!!
This hotel is situated in a quiet corner of Spain. It is relatively quiet and does not suffer from rows of commercial shops, night clubs and the likes. There are a handful of nearby shops and bars, mostly around the marina. There are good walks all around the area which is renowned for its migrating birdlife, (seasonal). We have seen Ospreys and Marsh Harriers. There are resident populations of Flamingos, Spoonbills and Storks. Hoopoes can be seen nesting in holes in some of the adjacent hotel buildings.
If it's a relaxing a peaceful holiday that you need then this is the place.
The guests are mainly Spanish, Italian, some Germans and some Brits. We have even met some pleasant French guests.
This hotel is open usually from end April to end October. During the winter months, most of the staff try to find work elsewhere, if they can. It's not easy for them, so do be mindful of this.
So, once again, a really huge 'Thank You' to all of the staff at one of Iberostar's very best hotels. We will be back to see you all next year.
With very best wishes.

This iberostar in Isla canela was great. The room was spacious and clean, the food was excellent both in variety and presentation. The staff were very professional and nice., always ready to help. Only less good aspect was the entertainment at night which was a let down
