Don't miss a world Class Omelette from Elvis the Omelette Chef

by Steven S

All around great experience, but the jewel was breakfast with a world class omelette crafted by Elvis the chef. He could make you one to order in 35 seconds- and it was about the best omelette I ever had (the best is, of course, those made by my wife!). He blends together several kinds of cheese, uses the freshest veggies I have experienced, and not a single brown spot on the covering of golden eggs. And at the end, he gives each customer a bow. I recommended him to many of the lawyers - we had a firm retreat- and they all sang praises to Elvis! We also had great omelettes at the JW Marriott in Seoul, South Korea, but they come in third: #1 honors go to my wife #2 Elvis, and #3 JW Marriott in Seoul.

Great hotel, but not great restaurant

by MichaelAnnArbor

The JW Marriott has a superb location, on the banks of the Grand River. It is a short walk on a bridge across the river to the Public Museum and the Gerald Ford Memorial. The Grand Rapids Art Museum is a couple of blocks away. There are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and interesting businesses within walking distance.
As expected, the rooms are large, well appointed and everything is in perfect operating condition. The staff members are friendly and knowledgeable.
The restaurant is potentially great, but currently is a disaster. Huge amounts of butter are poured over just about every entree, ruining what otherwise would be excellent choices. You can request that it be omitted, but you have to know that it coming. There is at least one vegetarian entree, but it is not listed on the menu.
