Beautiful Island - Beautiful Resort

by angelb19612019

We came on vacation from Washington, D.C. We got delayed in rush hour traffic leaving the airport in Cleveland. I called the resort and spoke with Marvin. I told him that we will be arriving late and taking the last ferry to the Island. Marvin very helpful and understanding. He waited for our late arrival and booked us in. He also gave us details about the island and the resort. Marvin was very pleasant and friendly. The resort is very well maintained. The landscaping is beautiful. The rooms are updated and very comfortable. The pool was crystal clean. This hotel is expensive but worth every dollar that we paid. The staff at check out were also very friendly. We enjoyed our stay and will be returning next year.

Music is pervasive, and goes from early morn to late.

by Janewaters

It is such a lovely setting - truly special - but the music is so very loud, permeates the rooms, and disrupts the amazing serenity of this garden-like setting. Other guests were complaining too, but it just goes on and on. If you like that sort of thing, this is your place. We four (and other guests) found it depressing and oppressive.

Family Activities

Pool
The large outdoor pool is surrounded by lounge chairs and features great views of Lake Erie. The pool is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and pool towels are provided. Restrooms can be found just off the pool area, too.

Lake Views and Beach Access
There is no direct beach access at the hotel, however, across the street guests will find more hotel property of a three-tiered deck with seating that overlooks Lake Erie. A grill and picnic table can also be found here exclusively for guest use.

Kelleys Island State Park, which offers a sandy beach and direct lake access, is about 2 miles away from the hotel.

Playground
A large playground with a slide and swings is situated next to a large grassy park for children to play in.

Family Dining

The hotel does not offer breakfast, however, several restaurants are within walking distance or a short golf cart ride to the hotel. Coffee and tea are available in the lobby throughout the day.

Getting There
Kelleys Island is located across Lake Erie from Put-In-Bay on South Bass Island and the mainland towns of Sandusky and Port Clinton, Ohio. A ferry or private plane is required to reach Kelleys Island from the shores of the mainland or other Lake Erie islands. The Kelleys Island Ferry Boat Line Service, which allows vehicles, is less than 10 minutes to Kelleys Island Venture Resort and the Jet Express Ferry, which does not allow vehicles to Kelleys Island, is less than five minutes away. The ferry rides are about 25 to 45 minutes. Cleveland International Airport is about an hour and 20 minutes to the Kelleys Island Ferry Boar Line Service on the mainland.

Getting Around
Walking, bicycling or riding a golf cart are the prominent modes of transportation on Kelleys Island. Families can rent a golf cart from a shop located in town near the Jet Express Ferry dock. Guests are welcome to use the hotel's complimentary bicycles. Parking can be limited throughout the island, so while driving a car is permitted, it's not always convenient.

For Mom and Dad
Directly across the street from the hotel is the Kelleys Island Brewery, which adults will love.
