I just returned yesterday from Seychelles and and La Digue was my last stop on my journey. I spent 5 nights at Le Repaire. The area is wonderful, laid back, beautiful and has a bohemian vibe that I just loved. As a solo traveler, Le Repaire was the perfect choice. Location was walking distance to town and even that much easier with a bike. You need to be comfortable with bicycle riding. (there are only a few cars on the Island - so taxis can be expensive). Bikes are old school and are 100 Rupees per day (about $7 to rent per day and not included in the reservation of the room). The hotel is modern and clean, The rooms have every convenience. The beds and pillows were comfy. Showers had great water pressure. There was a refrigerator, safe and a coffee pot. I had a bathrobe and slippers too. From the gentleman who biked my luggage from the ferry (Desiree?) to the front staff and housekeeping were very helpful. Mae and Ronelle, and all others including those in those in the restaurant, who greeted me by name! Gerald was a standout at the restaurant, as was the pizza chef (star!) Nico. All were so kind! Especially Mae and all accountable for any issue you might have. They want you to be happy! And, it showed.
I had an issue with my bike one night and Mae lent me hers and her bike lock! So sweet. The hotel asks that you leave your key to the room as a safety precaution. Westerners may not be used to that. But, I think it makes good sense. In an Island with many hills, bike riding and touring through forests, it makes sense for them to know if you've come back or not to the room. They care. And, that is the point.
The on site Italian restaurant is amazing. The food was fresh and there were many options. Breakfast consisted of many fruits, pastries, juice, cheese and assorted hot options along with French Press coffee.
In closing, Le Repaire is a solid choice. They solved any issue I had, which do arise unforeseen sometimes when traveling. So,because of all of this and the above, I am compelled to issue them a 5 star rating! Enjoy! Vive La Digue!
Went there initially for the reputation and returned3 times because pizza and pasta were outstanding!
Crusty base and tasty toppings of the marinera and margarita pizzas ordered.
Pasta were perfectly cooked, as in Italy. Match the level of the top pizzas and pasta I could have in Italy for the last 40 years. Congratulations!
