Good hotel with great food ... and coffee!

by Magnapurga

Everything needed for a short stay was suppled. The restaurant serves excellent Italian food (we live next door to Italy so trust our judgement, haha!), a la carte and for breakfast, where a variety of excellent fruit made a great start of our day. Coffee was also very good - it makes a difference. Supermarket around the corner, bicycles at the door for rides around the garden. Enjoyed the stay.

I leave on Mahe for 3 years and work here in hotel industry as sales person, so I do know how important to meet guests expectations even if they the price with discount (have resident rate). I booked and was confirmed Superior Sea View. Upon check in we were very excited and even were thinking about extension because the hotel itself looks nice and cozy. But when we got into the room all our excitement washed away.
First of all Allamanda room is on everyone's way, and it was sliding glass doors, so if I stand inside passing people can see us. NO privacy at all, we had to close curtains and roll down the shades to be at least a bit more private (my bf likes day light). I have been told that some plants have been planted but I can't wait until they will grow. We were there only for one night. This was the main issue.
Second, please see the pictures attached, I really do not see any sea on it. This was the view from our room which was advised as Sea View. I think you should work on the category of this room, let's say Sea Side or Garden View but definitely not a Sea View, to not give your guests any fake hopes.
I usually do not like to complain, but this disappointed me so much and it spoiled our only one night in this property.
From reception side even if we said we can pay full price or they can downgrade us from "sea view" to any other hidden from people’s eyes rooms, the call was made and we were advised that hotel is fully booked and room will not be changed (the accent was done on "Discounted price" we paid to preservationist so even we suggested to pay full price, room was not changed. To the end we were just avoided by the lady who checked us in.
Room itself looks nice, clean and tidy, but overall impression was ruined completely.
