Opened in 2017, LEGOLAND Beach Retreat is the new kid on the block at LEGOLAND Florida. The colorful hotel is all things beach — beach-inspired bungalows, beach-inspired dining and even a real lighthouse that glows at night!

LEGOLAND Beach Retreat is all about convenience for families, too, offering themed accommodations that sleep five guests, complimentary breakfast, an outdoor swimming pool, kids’ programming, a complimentary shuttle to LEGOLAND Florida and even a bar for mom and dad. Another convenient perk? It has a drive-thru check-in area!

LEGOLAND Beach Retreat is one of two resort hotels at LEGOLAND Florida; the other is LEGOLAND Florida Hotel. Both hotels offer similar perks, although LEGOLAND Beach Retreat is often priced a bit cheaper.

Rooms & Rates

The hotel features a total of 166 rooms in 83 bungalows, situated in 13 coves. Each cove has its own LEGO name and color theme -- one cove is blue, another is orange and so on -- and most coves face Lake Dexter.

All guestrooms are themed and feature a king bed and a separate cove (with curtains) that sleeps three kids in a bunk bed with trundle. Rooms also have mini-fridges and coffeemakers, plus complimentary bottled water and juice boxes. Another family feature we love -- mini toilet seats for little ones in the bathrooms!

Each bungalow has two guestrooms, and each of those rooms has their own porch with a table and chairs. Cribs are available upon request and free of charge.

Kid-friendly, fun, and relaxing

by Laura O

We stayed at the Beach Retreat with my 7-year-old daughter from Sun-Thurs in mid-June. Overall we had a great stay and would stay again.

Pros: Great theming in the bungalows and restaurant area. The Lego area in the restaurant was a great place to play while we waited for dinner or after breakfast (before the park opened). The room was fairly clean. It could have used some Tilex in the shower (in the grout) and some paint touch-ups. Housekeeping came every day and we were satisfied. We had no issues with bugs as other reviews have stated. The rooms do not come with microwaves but you can request one by emailing the resort (found the email on Legoland's website).
The pool area was relaxing and fun. Towels are provided. The s'mores fire pit was great as well. You can download the Beach Retreat map from the Legoland website and request a specific cove. We stayed in Seagull Cove, which was close to the pool, restaurant, and parking lot. We did not hear any noise once our door was closed, unless the people next to us slammed their front door (but that wasn't bad).

Cons: The breakfast buffet offered a lot of different items, but it was the same offering each day. Dinner service was very fast, but my chicken Caesar salad was not good (slimy chicken, no discernible parmesan cheese). But - my husband ordered an Indian dish and liked it, and the chicken egg rolls were also very good.

First 2 night stay

We went after buying a groupon for two nights. To put this into perspective, we paid almost 700CAD for these two nights, which is way too much. The beach retreat bungalows are cute and we never heard our neighbours. The kids liked the bunk beds and they each got a little bag of LEGO when we arrived (laying on the pillow) Not sure if this was because we bought a groupon but we were the furthest away from the pool/lighthouse (restaurant). We went in June 2019, nice warm weather but so much rain. When it rains / lightning strikes in the area they shut the pool down. Ones the pool is closed there basically is nothing going on in the Legoland beach retreat. Yes,there is an inside small play area inside the lighthouse but nothing suitable for the amount of kids that are staying in the beach retreat.
I was really put off by breakfast one day when a child at the table next to us got sick, vomit everywhere! The tables are close together so there is no minding your own business - the kids parents were both getting breakfast so this now became our problem. We flagged down (different) staff members to ask them to assist cleaning up this mess. We didn’t approach some random server, we asked people wearing gloves who were cleaning after people left. Both employees acknowledged the situation and then left to never been seen again. The parents cleaned up the mess as best they could with napkins and that was that. Poor next family would have no idea what had happened before they were seated and are now exposed to this germ fest. Needless to say our appetite was done and we left the breakfast area, we tried one more time to bring to the attention of the person assigning seats to patrons that they really should go clean up that table, but again were completely ignored. Maybe they see this all the time at the Legoland beach retreat and are desensitized to this?! Regardless ... we missed out on our included breakfast that day and no one even thought to offer us a table away from the vomit fest. I emailed this to Legolands customer service but they also don’t seem to care aka no response - that seems to be a trend they got going.
As annual pass holders to Legoland we are disappointed and expected more of the beach retreat and especially their customer service or lack there off.

Family Activities

Beach Retreat Pool
The hotel has a large pool that's surrounded by -- what else -- LEGOs! The giant LEGOs double as pool toys for kids to enjoy. The Beach Retreat Pool area is where activities are hosted each evening, too -- dance parties, contests with prizes and more. There's usually a special ceremony for the lighting of the lighthouse, too -- it's adorable!

Other pool amenities include life jackets (complimentary), plenty of lounge chairs, a playground and a fire pit. Families can purchase a four-person pack of S'mores ingredients at the onsite Palm Tree Traders for $10 (or bring their own).

In the main resort building, you'll find a giant LEGO structure and LEGOs galore -- a perfect diversion for kids when it rains or while you're finishing breakfast. It's conveniently located next to the bar, too...

Family Dining

Sandy's Castle
Sandy's Castle is where you'll find complimentary breakfast each morning, served buffet-style. Families can also head to Sandy's Castle for dinner, which includes burgers, sandwiches, salads, pizzas and the like, plus a separate kids' menu. Plenty of seating is available.
