Colossal Disappointment

by SaraDF05

Would never have expected such a horrible experience from a Leonardo.

To Sum Up: I wrote the hotel a DETAILED letter of all the issues one week ago. No response. I think that's the cherry on top.

Check In: It took almost 3 hours until my room was ready - after I had checked in and paid for the vacation. The staff did not offer an approximate time when the room would be available and did NOT offer the use of a luggage room, so for almost 3 hours we wasted our vacation sitting in the lobby. Only after the official 3pm check-in time had passed did the staff apologize and offer to upgrade our room. When the room was ready - it did not have the promised upgrade. Waste of half a day in a hotel lobby. Would not have happened at any other hotel.

Room: Cleanliness left what to be desired. There was no mattress protector on my bed and the sheets are not fitted, so they very easily move to expose mattress. Stingy on the amount of towels in the bathroom as well.

Facilities: This was perhaps the biggest disappointment because the facilities have huge potential. Big, well-kept pool and nice spa area. The "Welcome Sheet" said that both the pool and spa open at 8am. Awake from 6, I planned to swim as the pool opened right at 8am - before breakfast. At 715 I happened to look out and saw the pool was already open! I would have already been down there, had I known. Is it really so hard to put the correct times in the Information Sheet?
Spa as well. Information Sheet said that it opened at 8. At 8:20, we gave up, stopped waiting and went to breakfast.

After more than a decade of non-stop work and family, this was my first attempt to get away for a night and just enjoy, relax. It was wasted at the Leonardo Plaza.

I arrived before the 3pm official check-in. That has never been a problem in other hotels, they usually provide an approximate time when the room will be ready and will sometimes switch the room to give me access earlier. Not the case at the Leonardo Plaza.
Two and a half HOURS of waiting in the lobby, with no offer to hold our bags a

All the staff are also in a lovely reception. Thank you
