Reviews

Should have been great but not even close

by Howard B

My wife and I were on a Rocky Mountain States trip and we read about this place, and having seen quite a few good reviews, we booked it. We received a direct personalized email from the management before we arrived, in which we were promised many amenities that did not exist during our stay. We were told that it was off season, so the main restaurant would be closed, but we were assured that their (pictured) lovely lounge and bar would be open for drinks and some dishes. This was very important to us as we were coming in an unseasonably cold, icy and bitter week. When we arrived, the parking lot was so icy and uncleared that I had to drop my wife at the front door with all the luggage and park on slick ice, literally clutching onto my car in order not to fall over! When I entered I found the bar and lounge, which had a sign on a stand saying it was closed for the season! I asked the desk clerk about this and told him the email I received (and had at hand) clearly stated they would be open. He said, in a very nonchalant way in almost a whisper "oh yeah I've heard some things about that". Then we went to our room, which was very nice and had a fireplace which was advertised and pictured. It was a cold and windy night, and we looked forward to having a romantic drink or two in front of a roaring fire. However, the gas fireplace was broken! When we informed the management, they said it was our fault for not waiting for 10 or 15 minutes (!!) for it to "warm up"! What a load of BS! The next day they came and fixed it and it worked that night. Things that were billed as "included" in the resort fee (per the personalized email), which nearly doubled the rate, turned out to be way extra, such as spa services, which were generally at least $ 100 a pop. Absolutely no attempt was made to make things right, even after I sent a direct email to the hotel when we got back home. Zero response. This otherwise nice place offered little or nothing promised. We should have been told the truth and not a pack of lies. I suppose if you went "on season" you would not have had these problems, but they need to tell the truth!!
$ 500 for two nights for this experience is more than disappointing, it is inexcusable.

Great 5 day stay!

We enjoyed our recent 5 day stay at the Lodge at Jackson Hole. The hotel is located near town, but far enough away so street noise is not an issue. A free shuttle transports guests to the airport as well as locations around town. We didn't use it because we had a rental car, but noticed that plenty of other guests did. If we had not planned to drive to Yellowstone and the Tetons, we would not have needed a rental car.

Our room was very comfortable, but the mattress was sunken on each side of the bed and requires replacement. The hotel bathroom was very nice. My husband especially enjoyed using the overhead rain jet shower head. We also enjoyed the constant supply of water and Starbucks coffee located near the lobby. The complimentary breakfast was ideal. Eggs, bacon, and potatoes were served every morning, along with an assortment of bagels, pastries, fresh fruit, and yogurt. An Albertsons grocery store is located within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel offers free parking and a nice indoor/outdoor pool, whirlpool, and sauna. The lobby, which contains a massive fireplace, was the perfect spot for relaxing with a book and cup of coffee.
