Overview

Opened in 2016 on Stocking Island, a short boat ride away from George Town, Lumina Point’s 12 villas dot a point of land with beach on one side and lagoon on the other, where green sea turtles often swim. Eight of the villas face the beach. The freshly furnished units feature a king-sized bed and outdoor showers, plus a loft perfect for sleeping kids ages 1 to 14. Adjoining villas are also a good family option. A two-day minimum stay is required.

Complimentary use of kayaks, paddleboards, Hobie Cats, and board games keeps families engaged, plus there’s a saltwater pool. Parents can enjoy yoga classes, the spa, the fitness center, and the beach bar. If the tide isn’t too high, the family can walk the beach to Chat ‘n’ Chill for entertainment and meals. However, the property serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The resort provides arriving guests boat transport from George Town.

Reviews

Loved this place!

We read lots of reviews before spending a bit more than usual for staying here. We recognized that a high end resort on Stocking Island has obstacles to overcome because of the remote location. We decided that this place could be perfect for 3 nights of our 3rd visit to the Exumas.
POSITIVES: We stayed on the harbor side. We had the best villa there for a view but ALL villas, even on the other side, had great views that you would not be able to complain about. The villa was gorgeous.
We were happy that we stopped at the grocery and liquor stores in Georgetown before arriving for extra supplies. The frig in the villa was perfect.
The screened in huge porch was just perfect. There was obviously an insect isssue....so don't be surprised when they come through and fumigate. Not surprising on an island!
We loved the palapas on the beach. We were able to get one every day. They were all good!
We found the beachside drink, food and kayak service to be perfect. I wish I could remember his name. We tipped him well because he took good care of us and he was so nice,
The food at the restaurant was really good. Get the lobster. The tacos were good too. Everything was good.
We loved the place where you could get coffee and snacks. Nice touch. Magazines to read too!!!!!!
The pool was very cute. Nice shade. Very nice workers that I found to help us set up the complicated large umbrella. Thank you! The guy we found to help us was SO NICE! I don't think it was his job but he was very much appreciated.
Last, but not least, the location and view! The arrival drinks on the dock, the boat rides when we needed them ---wow. all good.
Not sure where some folks are coming from with negative reviews.
NEGATIVES: Not a lot here. We had a live small black scorpion in one of the drawers when we arrived and we had a brown 4+ foot snake hanging around our villa steps one afternoon. No worries! It's an island! We had a little negative thing with the "check out staff" that almost made me cry our last day. We had asked to stay a little later than check out due to the timing of our flight. The "reservations staff" was a little bit harsh with us about not talking to them sooner. We had relayed all the info before, but it turns out that was to someone in the states. The person in Exuma didn't have that info. Might be good for management to coordinate better. She wasn't nice to me about it and I just wanted to leave because of the bad vibes. My husband intervened and insisted that we come to a good place. She made it work, but not without some attitude that we had done something wrong. Wish I could have avoided that! And that's the difference between 4 stars and 5!

Here now. Bad mistake.

I’m convinced most of these reviews are fake, we feel so scammed .We self-describe as fairly chill travelers, but we are used to luxury and are willing to pay for it. Even before we arrived I was messaging the property and getting seriously inconsistent or delayed replies. I eventually heard from a manager who promised to fix it and she ultimately turned out to be based in the states. I invoked her name to the staff and they don’t even know who she is. Concierge has attitude and can’t give us a straight answer on what is open when. Said beach guy has to answer all questions on hikes, water activities , provide towels, etc. But beach guy never showed up to work and no one to go to. Breakfast was absurdly bad - overcooked eggs, dried out Benedict. We have paper in room that says $15 breakfast credit per person per day. Restaurant says no, $15 per room per day. Looking forward to that fight. Cabanas in front of villas unreserved. So someone in front of ours all day, meaning we had no privacy.
No bath. Shower outside. But no view . Villas have common wall. No TVs, spotty WiFi.

We came here to swim w pigs. Really hard to get a vendor recommendation. Finally picked one. We need to be outside at 7:15am, and no food for sale so we requested early breakfast. Nope! “Pastries and fruit in coffee shop.” We cannot have that be our only food for 7 hours pluses went to coffee shop and no fruit and pastries are garbage processed Otis spunkmeyer not homemade. Our only option was to order 2 flat breads and 2 salads off dinner menu to go and put in fridge for next day. $86! Plus we will likely be fighting for the $15 pp credit.

Concierge had suggested we try martini bar. We went there and were told it was closed because they do not have most of the ingredients . Said we could get a martini in restsurant. They literally have zero drink options w fresh fruit, only frozen or mixes. I drank better in Nassau.

Dinner - keep in mind this is supppsed to be one of best restaurants in Exuma and you are basically captive as nothing else convenient. Walls of glass but no view since big wood panels at eye level where you sit. Grouper Flat bread pizza was soggy, sent it back. Jerk grilled grouper was not a rub and not spicy. Some kind of sweet sauce that they said was not sweet. Fish risotto was ok. If the entrees were $25 each no problem but these were over $40 each. The wine list was something out of Vons or Kroger. $10-15 bottles of really really cheap wine that they mark up to more than the bottle price per glass. All cocktails from mixes, not fresh juices. To top it all off the mosquito problem is horrific in dining room. They eventually brought out citronella candles which would not stay lit and were useless. I had less bug issues in Belize!

So to conclude: apathetic , confused service plagued with inconsistent information, mosquitos, mediocre over priced food, and views that are not like the “brochure.” No way worth what it costs. If I didn’t have to pay $500 airfare change fees I would check our early.
