This place is truly superb. Amazing landscaping , immaculate and spotless rooms, more pools than you can spend time around , fantastic and tasty food and above all a brilliant animation team
The animation team were the best we’ve ever come across. When we visited near the end of the season things were winding down a lot and yet still they tried so hard and put on amazing shows every night . Not only were the shows funny but they had some truly talented people in there doing anything from belly dancing to acrobatics. Each had something to bring to the table and all with a smile. They really made the holiday for us.
The hotel was mostly attended by older Germans or people playing tennis. There were families that were there too and many attended the entertainment in the theatre each night and even those who were older and could have hung out in the bar listening to live music chose to join in the fun.
I liked the fact that the older guests were dancing in the lounge to live music and the rest of us could choose to watch a show or have a quiet drink in the other bar. There was an activity/space to suit all preferences
Family water park and adult only pools meant anyone could have noise or peace and enjoy the hotel
My kids fell in love with the black cats on site and we hope for their sakes someone feeds them when the season is over because they’re gorgeous!! There was a 10 wk old kitten there who our kids wanted to bring home !
We hope the hotel has the sense to invite the same Animation team back again to entertain next year as we may return
The resort of Hersonisos was very run down and mostly closed as we visited around Halloween time and I gather most places are closed by then but it may be better in the summer? There were a lot of strip joints and night clubs up the harbour end but up the Star Beach end seemed nicer.
I recommend visit the Crete aquarium about 5 miles out of town , it’s a brilliant aquarium that easily matches the London one for less than half the price
Thanks for a fab holiday Lyttos - feed the cats in the winter ! ????
I picked Lyttos Beach for our summer vacation based on: location, sea front and sandy beach, apparently comfortable accommodations, "all inclusive" meals and drinks and the promise of above average service.
I can confirm all these points.
What I did not take into account is that the establishment is a preferred site for families. With children, lots of children, loud and not well behaved children. Their fault or the parent's?
If you are looking to spend a quiet and relaxed vacation where you don't have to fight for the only umbrella & sunbed left, by one of the 10 available pools unless you get up at 6 AM to reserve your spot, you'd better look for another accommodation.
At peak time there could be as many as 2.300 people on the grounds.
And I have to make a note that, unlike what Booking.com wrongly states on the hotel description "Taverna Kalypso serves buffets and a la carte menus, in a modern yet romantic seaside setting." there is no A la Carte Menu available in any of the three Restaurants.
You have to join the line to get your food & drink; this in the morning, midday and evening. And as far as the "romantic seaside setting", the restaurant is not by the water and there is nothing romantic in a dinner that starts at 8 PM and by 9 PM is over.
The Service in general is very good, respectful and helpful employees. Special thanks to Paris, the super efficient and friendly bartender and to Giorgios the Kalipso Tavern Manager.
Frankly, that is not my ideal kind of vacation.
I do not blame the Hotel. I made the mistake in choosing Lyttos Beach.
I just want to make it known so that a fellow vacationer will not make the same mistake.
