Located along Shelter Cove Harbour, these two resorts feature water views, golf courses and plenty to do. There are two beautiful outdoor pools for families to enjoy. The kids can swim, play and splash, while the adults can unwind and relax on the many surrounding pool deck chairs. The spacious guestrooms and villas feature separate living and dining room areas and a fully equipped kitchen with a full size refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, dishwasher and a washer and dryer. A flat screen television and DVD player are available along with a sleeper sofa and a private balcony. Complimentary Wi-Fi access can also be found so there is never a concern about staying connected to home, work or school. The onsite Marketplace Express is a great place for families to pick up snacks, sundries and Starbucks coffee and there are several restaurants located nearby. There are no resort fees at these properties.

We stayed a week relaxing at Shelter Cove after ten days of travelling. Our suite was comfortable (although another armchair would have been useful), and well equipped. Our balcony was on the side with a wonderful view of a lagoon/garden and the waterways. The pool was never too busy and there were plenty of beds and umbrellas. It was a great place to use as a base for exploring, chilling and relaxing.
I’ll start with negatives before I talk about positives. We stayed at Marriott’s Sunset Pointe which shares the same location as Harbour Point. The buildings are old 1970s-80s style condo buildings. The furnishings, kitchen and bathroom have been updated, but the second bedroom and bathroom are very small. The second bedroom has two twin (i.e. single) beds, which is my first encounter at any Marriott Vacation Club timeshare property. The unit had a maximum sleeping capacity of 6, not 8.
This is also the first MVC property I stayed at that doesn’t have 24 hour front desk service. The lobby is closed from 12pm to 8 am. I couldn’t print out boarding passes during those hours. I called the front desk which was answered by Marriott Surf Watch for sofabed sheets and comforter, and it took a long time before the security guard brought them to my unit. It’s not the guard’s fault at all—she apologized for the delay because she had to respond to several requests before mine. The management should hire more personnel for night duties, and the lobby should be open 24/7.
Now the positives. It’s very close to Shelter Cove Harbor where many tour boats depart, and there are many shops, restaurants and live entertainment in the summer. We can see the marsh and water from our balcony. Some units can see fireworks Tuesday evenings in the summer. Also, service personnel are very friendly and helpful. Overall, it’s an enjoyable stay.
