Over Priced, Dated with Crabby Neighbors

by tortuga53

The best part of the Marley is it's location on the beach. For almost $100USD/night, you get two bedrooms, small living area, one bathroom and kitchen. No dishwasher or small appliances, although you might be able to get a toaster by asking the front desk. The rooms are OK, fairly clean, but dated. As to be expected in these older hotels, water systems are not pressurized so showers run slowly. You have the old style cement scrub board and clothes line in the service area of the unit, so hand washing clothes is an option. The hotel provides a daily maid service and bottled water is replaced as needed. While WiFi is advertised, it only worked for a few days during my 3 week stay.

As rates go, similar apartments (without maid) a block from the beach rent for $500-$700/month which will leave you with a lot more pesos to enjoy Mazatlan with. Apparently the residents of the Marley during January return year after year and seem to consider themselves somewhat more elite than the first timers. Our neighbor, Connie, complained so much about us feeding one of the friendly beach cats, that the poor thing got carted off to the Shelter. My preference was to have Connie removed. The residents also griped about us feeding the doves.

great time!

Best place in Mazatlan, right on the beach, clean fully equipped kitchens. Very friendly staff.
Martha and Oscar in the front office English speaking and very friendly, the gardeners and
housrkeeping staff very friendly, especially Esperanza singing her beautiful songs while working.
The Marley is centrally located in the Golden Zone, but at the same time is very quiet and relaxing. My family and I have been coming to Mazatlan for years and this is our favorite place.
