Construction has begin for a new water park that will open in the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 2017. The $46-million project will create an 80-acre water park called H2OBX.

H2OBX will features more than 30 waterslides, pools and water attractions when it opens in time for summer travel. Waterslides will feature a variety of lengths, drops, thrills and intensity, including a 90-foot free fall slide, a 90-foot body slide in translucent fiberglass, a 540-foot-long family raft ride, and a 500-foot-long water slide. A Flowrider surf simulator and an array of traditional rides and pools, including a Twin Tides wave pool, an Adventure Lagoon obstacle course, and an immersive, multi-level pirate-themed play structure with a 1,000 gallon bucket dump will be features of the park. More than 50 private cabanas and a premium cabana village will offer a private oasis setting, and throughout the park will be shaded areas, free Wi-Fi and multiple food and beverage outlets.

H2OBX will be located just off of U.S. 158 in Powells Point, North Carolina, three miles north of the Wright Memorial Bridge in the Outer Banks.
