Hitting the road this holiday season? You certainly won’t be alone, says AAA. For the first time in its holiday traffic forecast, AAA is predicting more than 100 million will travel over the 2015 holidays – that’s nearly one in three Americans!

AAA defines the holiday traffic period as Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015 through Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016. In its forecast, it predict 91.3 million people will be driving, 5.8 million will fly, and 3.4 million will be on trains, buses and cruise ships. The reason for the increase in travel? AAA points to the lowest gas prices in seven years, with many states recording gas prices below $2 per gallon, not to mention airfares 6 percent cheaper than last year.
