Amtrak has announced it will offer free rides for kids on the Hiawatha Line, which travels between Chicago and Milwaukee. Up to two children per group, ages 2 to 12, will receive free tickets on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through August.

The Hiawatha Line is the busiest corridor in the Midwest, with more than 800,000 passengers annually.

Amtrak offers other discounts for families, as well; for example, Amtrak Vacations traditionally offers half-priced fares for children ages 2 to 15, and infants ride free.
