Beaches Becomes World’s First Resort Company to Receive Advanced Designation As Certified Autism Center

Beaches Resorts has become the first resort company in the world to hold “Advanced” designation as a Certified Autism Center by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES.)

For families traveling with a child on the spectrum, that’s a really big deal, as it means employees at all three of Beaches Caribbean resorts (Beaches Turks & Caicos, Beaches Negril and Beaches Ocho Rios) have accrued an additional 26 hours of training (in addition to 14 previous credit hours earned as part of the initial 2017 resort autism certification) in autism sensitivity and awareness.

Standout Beaches Resort services designed to make a stay more manageable for special needs families include private in-room resort check-in, optional 1:1 IBBCES certified Beach Buddies (additional fee), Enhanced Culinary Concierge service (dietary accommodations and modifications) and the availability of designated quiet spaces during noisier times of the day.

As part of the Advanced Autism Certification program, Beaches is also redesigning its kids’ camp spaces to be more sensory-friendly and will offer sensory aids and amenities such as noise-cancelling headphones, special sleep-aid pillows and fidget toys. Water sports operations and PADI instructors will also become ACAC certified, making it possible for individuals on the spectrum to be fully included with other members of the family in popular water sports vacation activities such as resort diving experiences.
