Roller coasters are nothing new at Williamsburg, Virginia’s Busch Gardens. However, a wooden roller coaster is! The amusement park opened its first-ever wooden coaster, InvadR, the park’s eighth roller coaster.
InvadR, located in the New France village, features nine air-time hills, a 74-foot drop and two tunnels, with speeds reaching up to 50 miles per hour. Kids 46-inches and taller are welcome, making the coaster also a good choice for first-time “big coaster” rides. Although a wooden coaster, InvadR is supported by steel tracks, providing a smoother ride than most wooden coasters. The Viking-themed coaster will have a train of eight cars that can seat two per car.
InvadR is Busch Gardens Williamsburg first new coaster since the opening of Tempesto in 2015.
Busch Gardens Williamsburg is now open for its summer season.
