Delta Drops Booking Fees

Finally! An airline is dropping fees instead of adding them! Delta announced it will no longer charge fees for booking flights over the phone or in-person at ticket counters.

The fees, common with all U.S. airline carriers except Southwest Airlines, were $25 for phone bookings and $35 for ticket counter purchases. Delta becomes the largest U.S. carrier to drop the fees. It’s top competitors, American and United, continue to charge the same rates for phone and in-person ticketing. JetBlue charges $25 for both; Alaska Airlines, which just bought Virgin American, changes $15 for calling; and Spirit Airlines charges for purchases made online and by phone. Southwest Airlines does not charge for bookings.
