Disney Cruise Line has revealed some exciting details about its newest ship, as well as its second private island.

New Disney Ship Details

At the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Disney announced its fifth ship will be called Disney Wish.

“There couldn’t be a better name for our incredible new ship because making wishes come true is part of the Disney DNA and is at the heart of so many of our cherished stories,” Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Bob Chapek said, according to a Disney press release.

Disney Cruise Line also revealed a rendering of Disney Wish’s three-story atrium, and announced that the ship’s stern will feature Rapunzel, as she embodies the spirit of the ship with a desire to see the world.

The Disney Wish is expected to set sail in January, 2022, and is the first of three new Disney ships to debut over the next several years.

Photo renderings of Disney’s second island in The Bahamas, Lighthouse Point, were also revealed at the D23 Expo.

Disney announced it is committed to preserving and protecting the local environment, and will not begin construction until the Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Management Plan are reviewed and accepted by the Government of The Bahamas and public consultation has occurred.

Construction of the new attraction, which will be located on Eleuthera, could begin as early as 2020, with an anticipated completion date in 2022 or 2023.
