It’s official! Disney, which acquired George Lucas’ Star Wars series, has finally decided to add a Star Wars-themed area to its Disney theme parks!

Over the weekend, Disney announced it will be developing new attractions around the Star Wars franchise of films at Disneyland in California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando. The lands will transport guests to a Star Wars planet and take them into a galaxy far, far away for the largest single-themed land expansion ever to take place at the theme parks, including Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventure and the New Fantasyland at Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

The new lands will offer signature attractions that put passengers in the midst of an outer space battle, as well onboard Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon. Further details and an opening date were not released, but we’ll be keeping an eye on news on these new lands.
