Dolly Parton’s theme park, Dollywood, opened for its 29th season in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., with the debut of a the new FireChaser Express roller coaster and a tribute to firefighters.

The new coaster is the first dual-launch roller coaster in the country, taking riders both forward and backward on a 2,427-foot track, in what Parton says “has folks goin’ in all different directions.” The coaster calls for a height of 39-inches or taller, making the ride friendly for many families. FireChaser Express takes the place of the former Adventure Mountain ropes course and now sits above the Wilderness Pass area of the theme park. The surrounding buildings have been redeveloped to follow the FireChaser Express theme, which also celebrates firefighters, especially those that protect the nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park from forest fires.
