For the first time since June 2015, U.S. domestic airlines have participated in an industry-wide airfare hike in January 2016.

American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest and United have joined in increasing all fares on domestic flights by $3 per one-way flight. The five airlines control 80 percent of the flight market in the U.S., and it is not certain if the smaller remaining airlines like Spirit will follow suit.
