The new Gansevoort Dominican Republic, Playa Imbert, officially opens its door today, providing a new luxury resort on the island’s north coast.

Spread out across 400 acres of beachfront property, the Gansevoort serves as a destination resort where families can enjoy a host of amenities. The resort’s focal point is its three-tiered cascading infinity pool overlooking its crescent-shaped beach. A second adult-only pool will be opening in the spring. Onsite dining includes the Baia Lounge, offering gourmet Mediterranean and Asian-inspired dishes, as well as the underground La Cantina Wine + Cigar Cellar for adults to enjoy wines from around the world. Beach activities include kiteboarding, surfing, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, and SCUBA diving. Excursions off resort can be arranged for zip lining, white water rafting, sailing, golf, tennis and horseback riding.

The resort is 15 minutes from Puerto Plata Airport in the Dominican Republic. Rates include roundtrip transfers to and from the airport, start at $595 per night, with semi-all-inclusive rates created with the addition of a meal plan, which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.
