California’s newest (and only) indoor water park resort, Great Wolf Lodge Southern California isn’t set to open until February 2016, but during a special hard hat tour of the new hotel, media had a chance to see the guestrooms and water park, and found out which indoor attractions will be in the finished space.

After Great Wolf executives welcomed the media, journalists broke off into groups to be taken on a tour by insiders like Scott Maupin, SVP of Operations. When asked why visitors to Southern California — known for its year-round sunny weather — would visit an indoor water park, he mentioned the success of the Great Wolf Lodge in another warm weather state: Texas. “Sometimes if you’re local you want to get out of the weather, and visitors from Northern states want to be warmer,” he said. Water in the 105,000-square-foot indoor water park will be 84 degrees year-round.

The 105,000-square-foot indoor water park has a wave pool, multi-level tree house water fort, a six-story funnel ride and more.
