The luxury chain hotelier Le Meridien, a member of the Starwood brand of hotels, has announced it will open 11 new hotels in 12 months. Of the new hotels opening around the world, five will open in the U.S.

The first new hotel will be Le Meridien Tampa, which will open at the end of May. The Tampa hotel transforms the Historic Federal Courthouse and will remain on the National Register of Historic Places, with 130 guest rooms and suites.

Le Meridien Chicago – Oakbrook Center will open in July, adjacent to the Oakbrook Center. The hotel will feature 172 guest rooms and suites, as well as a rooftop terrace.

In August, Le Meridien Charlotte will open in conjunction with the Sheraton Charlotte Hotel as part of a $20-million renovation. The hotel will offer indoor and outdoor pools and a rooftop terrace.

Le Meridien Indianapolis debuted as a renovation of the Historic Canterbury Hotel. The renovation, which cost $9.5-million, added 99 guest rooms, while another renovation – at the tune of $29 million – was completed for the Le Meridien New Orleans which offers 410 guestrooms.

The new hotels join the brand’s latest collection of hotels that opened in Atlanta, Dallas and Santa Monica last year.
