The City of Montreal, in Canada’s Quebec province, is calling on public support to receive UNESCO status for its Mount Royal mountain park. “We love the Mountain” is a citizen mobilization campaign launched by les amis de la montagne. With 30,000 signatures or more by April 26, 2017, the city mountain can be considered for UNESCO World Heritage Site status.

“Mount Royal is an iconic symbol of the city. The mountain is also fundamental to the quality of life of hundreds of thousands of Montrealers,” says Sylvie Guilbault, executive director of les amis de la montagne. “That is why we are inviting [citizens] to make a significant contribution to preserving Mount Royal by signing the letter in support of the mountain’s bid for UNESCO status.”

Les amis de la montagne is calling out to citizens of Montreal and elsewhere to sign the online letter of support. Click here to sign the letter of support.
