Montreal Celebrates 375th Birthday in 2017

Montreal will celebrate its 375th anniversary in 2017 and to honor the occasion will be hosting more than 175 events across the city throughout the year. The Quebec city’s events will showcase its best and brightest, as well as its unique European-style spirit, just over the border.

Montreal’s birthday party will include:

Les Hivernales. Montreal’s Winter Festival will take place Jan. 2 through Mar. 12, 2017, with cold-weather activities like snowshoeing, zip lining, dogsledding and outdoor hockey. The events will take place in Parc Jean-Drapeau in Old Montreal.

Illumination of the Jacques Cartier Bridge. The iconic bridge that spans across the St. Lawrence River will be illuminated on May 17, 2017, to honor the 375th anniversary of Montreal and the 150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation.

Montreal AVUDO. Beginning May 17, the Compagnia Finzi Pasca will showcase a multimedia show with more than 100 free performances through Sept. 2, 2017. The performances will take place in Montreal’s Old Port.

The Walk of the Giants. The French Royal de Luxe street theater company will arrive May 19 to 21, 2017, to host a parade of their giants across the city.
