Looking to plan a spring getaway? How about a Memorial Day weekend vacation? CheapHotels.org compiled a list of the most expensive spring destinations in the country, reviewing the average cost of hotel stays in April and May. Where will it hurt the wallet the most? Charleston, South Carolina, according to their research.

Rooms in Charleston will cost your family an average $241 per night. (The data focused on central locations and properties with 3 or more stars.) Nashville followed with $237 per night; Napa, California at $234 per night; and Key West, Florida at $231. The list has Calistoga, California at No. 5, and Islamorada, Florida at No. 7; Calistoga is part of Napa Valley and Islamorada is part of the Florida Kets, making Napa and the Keys two of the most expensive places to visit in the spring. Others on the list: Austin, Texas; Santa Monica, California; Poipu, Hawaii; and Boston.

CheapHotels.com also found the top destinations in the U.S. and Canada. New York topped the list, with Las Vegas, Chicago, San Francisco, Toronto, Miami, Orlando, Los Angeles, Montreal, San Diego, Washington, D.C., and New Orleans the favorites for spring travel to cities.
