The LEGO Group and MSC Cruises have built a new feature for kids: LEGO-themed playrooms at sea.

The LEGO Experience includes DUPLO Play Pen, with educational games for children under age 5; LEGO Vertical Play Wall, a game that requires two teams to compete as they construct a LEGO figure (designated for ages 7 to 11); and Building Happening, a similar challenge for families (with children ages 6 to 11).

It also includes LEGO Tech Experience, with LEGO games on Xbox, Wii and PlayStation (ages 7 to 11), and, of course, plenty of free play with LEGO’s (ages 5 to 11).

Kids who participate in the LEGO Experience will receive diplomas, certifying them as Junior LEGO Master Builders, and they’ll have a chance to meet with a new mascot, Sailor Walkabout, who will be present for onboard parades and other events.

The addition heralds overall enhancements for the cruise line’s kids’ clubs, which will be separated into different facilities for five age groups: Baby (under 3), Mini (3 to 6), Junior (7 to 11), Young (12 to 14) and Teen (15 to 17).

The LEGO Experience will debut on MSC Armonia, which returns to service on Nov. 19, 2014, and on two brand new vessels, expected for delivery in 2017.
