Norwegian Cruises Pulls Turkey from Itinerary

Norwegian Cruise Lines announced it will pull Turkey from its Mediterranean sailings across all three of its cruise brands in 2016 due to safety concerns.

Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent of the Seas will stop sailing to Istanbul, Kusadasi, Antalya and all ports of call in Turkey following terrorist attacks in Istanbul, the nation’s capital. Turkey borders Syria, which has been in the news not only for refugees fleeing the country, but for its involvement with terrorist attacks in Europe, India and populated tourist destinations.

The change impacts 32 Norwegian cruise itineraries, 17 at Oceania and 12 at Regent of the Seas in 2016. The cruise line hopes to reinstate the itineraries in 2017, but will watch for security and safety concerns.
