Sesame Place is the first theme park in the world to become an autism certified center by the Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).

This means all of the park’s staff have successfully completed autism sensitivity and awareness training, and will be required to do so every two years.

Located in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, Sesame Place has also added two quiet rooms with adjustable lighting and comfortable seating.

Sesame Place has been committed to children with autism and special needs for years; in 2015, it launched the “Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children” initiative.

In 2017, Julia, the Sesame Street character with autism, made her debut at Sesame Place. The park is currently developing new programs for guests to interact with Julia.

Sesame Place’s autism certification comes at a perfect time — April is National Autism Awareness Month.
