Smithsonian has announced its 13th annual Museum Day Live! will take place on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017.

Museum Day Live! is an initiative in which participating museums across the country open their doors free of charge to guests who download a branded ticket. The annual event gives said museums the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C.-based facilities, which offer free admission every day.

In 2017, Smithsonian is partnering with Microsoft to create interactive lesson plans with the help of Minecraft: Education Edition. Participating museums will have the ability to download the lesson plans to enhance their guests’ experiences. The lesson plans will be available for download on Aug. on the Museum Day Live! website. Schools will be given access to the lesson plans following the event.

Tickets to Museum Day Live! will be available for download starting August 25. Each ticket provides the ticket holder and one guest complimentary access to any participating museum on September 23. A full list of participating museums can be found at smithsonian.com/museumday/venues.
