Summer Vacation Spending Increases

A new survey reveals Americans will spend more on their summer vacations in 2016. The total projected spend for vacations is expected to reach nearly $90 billion, an increase in 11 percent over 2015.

The Vacation Confidence Index, released by Allianz Global Assistance, tracked Americans’ confidence that they will take a summer vacation, as well as how much they intend to spend while vacationing. The survey found 50 percent of Americans are confident they will take a vacation, and the average household spend will be $1,798.
