Planning your summer vacation but wondering when to book to get the best deals? TripAdvisor, the travel planning and booking site, analyzed its data for a special summer report, “Best Time to Book.” The main takeaway? Booking a hotel within three months of a summer trip in the U.S. can save families 9 percent versus peak pricing.

Reviewing 30 popular cities in nine popular world-wide regions for travel in June through August, the research found the average price of hotels in the U.S. were $164 per night when booked within three months of the trip. For travel to the Caribbean, within four months of travel saved travelers 6 percent with rates averaging $184 per night. In Europe, the findings are more varied, with prices staying consistent within 10 months of travel and averaging $135 per night.

Says Brooke Ferencsik, senior director of communications for TripAdvisor, “By doing their homework and comparing prices on sites like TripAdvisor, along with using insights from this report, travelers can discover the best deals on their hotels for summer.”

Price comparison shopping is available on Family Vacation Critic’s hotel pages, as well, along with the ability to filter amenities and age-appropriate hotels.
