uberFamily Launches in Washington D.C., Philadelphia

Photo of toddler in carA family-friendly addition to the popular Uber app, uberFamily has expanded to Washington D.C. and Philadelphia. It is also available in New York City, where it launched in May.

The option, available for a surcharge of $10, provides special uberX vehicles with car seats for families on the go. One, forward-facing car seat is provided per vehicle, for a child who is at least 12 months old, 22 pounds and 31 inches. A child who is 48 pounds or 52 inches is considered too big for an uberFamily car seat, according to the company’s website.

Additionally, uberFamily offers drivers who have been certified by The Car Seat Lady.

To access the new program, open the app and apply promo code ‘FAMILY. uberFamily surcharges will be waived in Philadelphia and D.C. through Sunday, July 20.
