United Airlines Now Charging for Tweens Traveling Alone

For kids flying solo, many airlines offer mandatory unaccompanied minor services for children up to at least age 12, but have allowed ‘tweens and teens the service as an option. United Airlines announced it will now require children up to the age of 15 to fly with the service. What does this mean? An additional $150 fee for older children.

United is not the only carrier requiring ‘tweens to have the unaccompanied minor services, which includes flight attendants chaperoning kids to and from their seats to meet adults at the gate. American Airlines and Delta have required children up to age 14 to use the service.
